China Airlines tops airline industry in 2026 S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook

Taiwan-headquartered China Airlines (CAL) earned the top spot in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment for the global airline industry in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for 2026. Read More » CAL is the only airline ranked in the global top 1% and the only Taiwanese transportation company to be included in the Yearbook for nine years, taking the top spot on two occasions. In total, only eight airline industry companies have been shortlisted for the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, six of them from Asia. ANA Holdings, EVA Airways, and Japan Airlines (JAL) ranked in the top 5%. The remaining shortlisted carriers from the region are Cathay Pacific and Korean Air (KAL). Among the airlines, CAL delivered outstanding results across 23 assessment indicators, earning full marks in Transparency and Reporting, Environmental Policy and Management, Energy, Water, Transportation Safety, and Human Rights. These, along with Climate Strategy and Customer Relations, helped China Airlines top the airline industry in eight indicators. The S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook is compiled using the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). For the 2026 Yearbook, S&P assessed more than 9,200 enterprises across 59 industries.
