China and South Korea expand available capacity in air services agreement update

Read More » Under the new arrangements, the number of weekly passenger services has increased by 9.2% to 664 flights a week, from 608 flights a week previously. The number of available cargo flights rose by 25.9% to 68 flights a week, from 54 flights a week. The bilateral air services agreement was last modified in 2019, the South Korea Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said. In terms of available capacity on specific routes, the MOLIT said routes from Seoul Incheon to major cities in Mainland China such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou were getting an extra seven flights a week, while there were an additional 14 flights a week for routes between South Korea’s regional cities to Mainland China destinations other than Beijing and Shanghai. The MOLIT said there were 4.4 million travellers between South Korea and Mainland China in the three months to March 31 this year, above the pre-COVID-19 level of 4.1 million in the first quarter of calendar 2019.
