Read More » It said increased competition in this market has forced it to downsize to the A320 and A321 on the routes.
The Taipei-based carrier will terminate services to Okinawa, Guiyang and Macau from October 30, leaving only Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Siem Reap, Palau and twelve Mainland cities in its network.
TransAsia chairman, Vincent Lin, told Taiwan’s CNA the airline wants to build a "hybrid" business model between a traditional carrier and a budget carrier to seize more business opportunities. Lin said TransAsia remains committed to ATR aircraft, despite two fatal crashes in recent years, both of which were caused by pilot error. If the airline succeeds in selling or leasing its A330s, it will have a fleet of five A320s, five A321s and seven ATRs.
