Air Guilin launches operations and Dalian Airlines cleared for international operations

HNA Group’s latest airline offshoot, Air Guilin, has secured its air operator's certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). It will launch commercial services tomorrow with A319s, two bought and one leased acquired from sister carrier, Beijing Capital Airlines. Read More »

The new carrier will initially fly domestically, connecting the tourist city of Guilin with Tianjin, Yangzhou, Yinchuan, Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang, Jinan, Shantou, Xian and Zhangjiakou.

Beijing Capital Airlines this week confirmed it will launch thrice-weekly Shenyang-Qingdao-Melbourne A330-200 flights from September 29. The carrier said the cheapest round-trip fare on the route would be 880 yuan ($133).

Orient Aviation recently learnt that Beijing Capital Airlines has shown interest in acquiring second-hand A340-500 and -600s to launch nonstop Beijing-Mexico City and Beijing-Havana flights. The carrier has a fleet of 34 A319s, 21 A320s, seven A321s and two A330-200s.

In separate news, Air China protégé, Dalian Airlines, has received CAAC clearance to launch Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan flights and also longer haul services.  The carrier has a fleet eight B737-800s.

In other updates, MA60-operator, JoyAir, has applied to the CAAC for permission to transfer its base from Xian to Tianjin, after it merged with Tianjin-based Okay Airways. If the move is approved,  JoyAir will integrate Okay’s thirteen MA60s into its fleet.
