Tibet Airlines accepts A330 and Hebei Airlines adds B737

Tibet Airlines on Saturday took delivery of an A330-200, its second wide body from an order for three. It expects the third aircraft to be delivered in late March. Read More » Tibet Airlines’ A330s are 242-ton high-gross-weight variants ideally suited for high-altitude operations from its home base at 3,500m-high Lhasa Gonggar Airport. The airline configures the Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered aircraft in a three-class layout, comprising twelve business, 32 premium economy and 235 economy seats.

This past month, the carrier has been flying its sole A330 between Lhasa, Chengdu, Sanya and Shanghai Hongqiao. It also has been approved for Sanya-Sochi operations.Tibet Airlines operates 14 A319s, four A320s and two A330s and is expected to add five Airbus aircraft to its fleet by year-end.

In other Mainland fleeting updates, Xiamen Airlines will provide a US$5.5 million loan guarantee for Hebei Airlines to lease a B737-800 aircraft from Tianlan (Tianjin) Aircraft Leasing Company. In a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, China Southern Airlines, the parent airline of Xiamen, said the guarantee would assist Hebei Airlines to diversify its debt vehicles and reduce overall financing and leasing costs.

Xiamen Airlines holds 99.5% of Hebei Airlines’ shares. The current balance of guarantees provided by Xiamen Airlines to Hebei Airlines is 800 million yuan (US$1.16 billion). Hebei has 12 B737NGs and six E190s with four E190s and 20 COMAC C919s on order.
