Garuda Indonesia profit up 72%

The Indonesian carrier recorded a profit of US$145.4 million for the year compared with a US$64.2 million in 2011.
Passengers carried increased 19.6%, to 20.4 million, for the period, with particularly strong growth recorded in the South West Pacific and Australia.
Garuda has expanded its flights into the region by 22.1% and increased passenger numbers on the routes by 20%.
The national carrier has introduced successful daily services from Melbourne to Denpasar (Bali) this month, will add direct flights from Perth to Jakarta in June and re-introduce Brisbane-Denpasar flights in August.
