In a Stock exchange filing in late March, China Southern announced Xiamen Airlines would add 20 B737 MAX 8s and ten B737 MAX 10s to its fleet from 2019 to 2022. The MAXs will service the Xiamen carrier’s vast domestic and fast expanding regional network. The airline intends to operate 500 aircraft by 2035. “The addition of the new Boeing 737 MAX is a major milestone for Xiamen Airlines as we execute our development road map,” said Xiamen Airlines chairman, Che Shanglun.

Parent China Southern flies eight MAXs and Air China and China Eastern Airlines have taken delivery of their first MAXs.

Xiamen Airlines, a SkyTeam member, will add six B787s to its fleet this year, which will increase the type to six -8s and 12 -9s at the carrier. Xiamen Airlines has an all-Boeing fleet of 148 B737s (including the just delivered MAX 8), four B757-200s and 12 B787s.
