Philippine Airlines prepares for first A350 delivery

Philippine Airlines (PAL) will take delivery of its first of six on-order A350-900s on July 14. Additional PAL A350 destinations planned are New York’s JFK and Los Angeles.
Separately, PAL this week launched its Manila-Brisbane A321neo service. The airline used to fly ageing A340-300s three times a week between Manila, Brisbane and Auckland but has rejigged the route to the four a week Manila-Brisbane A321neo nonstop.
PAL has taken delivery of two of 21 Pratt & Whitney GTF-powered A321neo the airline has ordered from Airbus. It has configured the A321neo with 12 lie-flat business class and 156 economy class seats. The A340 previously flown on the route had 36 business and 218 economy class seats.
In other PAL news, the airline is inaugurating four domestic routes from Clark to Siargao, San Vicente, San Jose and Cauayan with Bombardier Q400s. PAL flies five Q400s and has seven on order to 2019. The turboprops have six premium economy and 80 economy seats.
