GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS: SpiceJet, India’s second largest LCC, has chosen GDS, Amadeus, to sell its services and fares through the Amadeus Travel Platform. Read More » It is the first time the carrier has worked with a GDS. Navitaire, an Amadeus company, and AirAsia have extended their agreement to use the solutions provider for ancillary, loyalty and reservations platforms, including digital, merchandising, distribution and departure control to 2028. SpiceJet also is a customer of Navitaire’s PSS.

IFE: Spanish digital connected services and IFE company, Immfly, is expanding to Asia to market its digital platform that enables passengers to use their own devices to access multi-lingual entertainment and news media as well as an airline’s ancillary offerings.

TRAINING: Boeing has announced plans to establish a US$3 million permanent endowment for scholarships at Embry-Riddle University to support aspiring student pilots and aviation maintenance technicians. Separately, the university and Korean Air have launched career pathway programs for trainee pilots at the Arizona and Florida campuses of the U.S. aviation university. Flight students selected by Korean Air will receive motivational and mentorship in completing their training. The Embry-Riddle course will graduate 40 Korean Air pilots a year. In Toulouse, Airbus has announced it will open a flight academy and extend its training services to ab initio training for pilot cadets at its Angouleme Airbus Flight Academy Europe, formerly known as the wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus, Cassidian Aviation Training Services.
