Delta Airlines flight safety expert to head FAA

U.S. president Trump has nominated recently retired director of flight safety operations at Delta Air Lines, Stephen Dickson, for the position of permanent head of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. Read More » Former F-15 fighter pilot Dickson, who is regarded highly by his industry peers, spent 27 years with Delta Air Lines before he retired last year. During that time, he flew commercially with the carrier and also oversaw safety, pilot training and regulatory compliance at the Atlanta-headquartered carrier.
Daniel Elwell has been acting director since Obama-appointed Michael Huerta stepped down from the position in January 2018.
