Hong Kong government announces Cathay Pacific Airways board observers

Cathay Pacific welcomed “the designation of  Carlson Tong and Rimsky Yuen by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) as observers on the board of Cathay Pacific. Read More » We look forward to working with them closely in their role”, a company statement said.  Yuen was the HKSAR’s justice minister from 2014-2018. Tong, the chairman of  the Securities and Futures Commission for six years from 2012, also was a board director of  Airport Authority Hong Kong from 2017 to mid this year. The new appointees do not have voting rights and will oversee the government’s US$3.5 billion funding support package for the airline group.
