Airbus posts calendar 2020 net loss; reports a return to profit in December quarter

Airbus has reported a net loss of 1.13 billion euros (US$1.36 billion) for the 12 months to December 31, 2020 an improvement from a net loss of 1.36 billion euros for the 2019 year. Read More » Revenue declined 29%, to 49.9 billion euros, Airbus said in a regulatory filing this afternoon. "The 2020 results demonstrate the resilience of Airbus in the most challenging crisis to hit the aerospace industry," Airbus CEO, Guillaume Faury, said. Airbus delivered 566 commercial aircraft in calendar 2020, down 34% from 863 aircraft in 2019. Airbus is targeting the "same number of commercial aircraft deliveries as in 2020" for the 2021 year. The company reported a net profit of 1.55 billion euros for the December quarter, returning to profitability after a net loss of 3.55 billion euros in the prior corresponding period.
