Australia clears MAX to return to flying
February 26th 2021

Read More » CASA acting CEO and director of aviation safety, Graeme Crawford, said the regulator had accepted the return-to-service requirements specified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and added he was confident the aircraft was safe. “Our airworthiness and engineering team has assessed there are no additional return to service requirements for operation in Australia," Crawford said in a statement. CASA banned the aircraft from operating in Australia in March 2019. While no Australian carrier operates the 737 MAX, Virgin Australia (VA) has 25 of the type on order. Fiji Airways and Singapore Airlines (SIA) had flown the aircraft to Australia before the type's global grounding in response to two fatal accidents.
