Boeing Commercial Airplanes managing director of marketing India, Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific, Dave Schulte, said the Oceania market was not expected to return to 2019 levels until about 2023. Read More »

The 2020-2039 Boeing Commercial Market Outlook (CMO) said airlines in Oceania were likely to require 770 new commercial aircraft – 10 regional jets, 560 narrow-bodies and 200 wide-bodies – in the next two decades to meet rising air travel demand. The forecast was down 6% from 820 deliveries – 10 regional jets, 560 narrow-bodies and 250 wide-bodies – in the 2020 CMO. The region’s installed fleet was forecast to grow from 560 currently to 880 by 2039. The previous CMO had Oceania’s installed fleet at 920 aircraft by 2038. Oceania annual growth has been lowered to 3.3%, from 3.7%.

"We have definitely revised our numbers down slightly from last year's forecast," Schulte told reporters during a virtual briefing today. "However, if you look at the pillars for our long-term recovery, we continue to see the 20-year forecast and the growth rates to be very stable and to stabilise following recovery, which will align with our long-term trends."
