Qantas goes to court over Virgin Australia appointment

Qantas Group has commenced legal proceedings to ensure a former senior Jetstar executive fulfils all contractual obligations before starting work at rival, Virgin Australia (VA), local media has reported. Read More » Today, Qantas Group said it was seeking to enforce a six-month non-compete period and three months' notice for former Jetstar Japan co-CEO and executive director, Nick Rohrlach. He recently was named CEO of VA's frequent flyer program, Velocity, and was due to start in the role in May. Qantas told The Australian newspaper Rohrlach could not start until September. The newspaper reported Rohrlach was in line for a senior position at Qantas's loyalty business and had received sensitive information as part of preparations for that role. The matter will go before the NSW Supreme Court tomorrow.
