Korean Air’s takeover of Asiana Airlines to be finalised in April

Korean Air (KAL) this week submitted the post-merger integration plan for its proposed takeover of local rival, Asiana Airlines, the Yonhap news agency reported. Read More » The plan is being reviewed by the Korea Development Bank, one of Asiana's main creditors. The government-owned bank is scheduled to complete its review of the plan, including retention of all jobs at the carrier, next month. The transaction also requires the approval of a number of overseas regulators.
In other KAL news, the SkyTeam alliance member provided more details of its trial of the International Air Travel Association (IATA) Travel Pass app, planned for flight KE11 from Seoul Incheon to Los Angeles in May. Passengers will take a COVID-19 antigen test at Incheon Airport’s testing centre and receive the results within an hour on the Travel Pass mobile app, KAL said. “We believe the digital travel pass will improve customer experience for passengers as they can share health information in a convenient and secure manner and save processing time at airports,” said KAL chief customer service officer, Seungbum Lee, said.
