China Airlines March passenger traffic improves by near 25%; cargo revenue soars

Taiwan’s flag carrier, China Airlines' (CAL), has reported the airline flew 23,105 passengers in March, down 89.5% from 219,944 passengers in the same month a year earlier. Read More » On a more positive note, the March figures represented a 24.3% improvement from 18,589 passengers in February. CAL said passenger revenue was down 83.1% year-on-year, to TW$375 million (US$13.2 million), for the month. However, passenger revenue improved by 19% month-on-month from TW$315 million in February. The SkyTeam alliance member's passenger load factor was 18% in March against 15.6% in February and 42.5% a year ago. Freight revenue tonne kilometres rose 29.4% in March compared with the prior year. Cargo revenue soared 81.2%, to TW$9.2 billion, from TW$5.1 billion 12 months ago.
