Hong Kong bans India, Pakistan and Philippines flights after passenger diagnosed with new COVID-19 strain

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said yesterday all flights from India, Pakistan and the Philippines would be banned for two weeks after a new COVID-19 strain, known as N501Y, was detected for the first time in the city. Read More » "India, Pakistan and the Philippines all had seven-day cumulative numbers of relevant cases that reached the relevant criteria in the past 14 days. The government will therefore invoke the place specific flight suspension mechanism for these three places," the HKSAR government said. The ban will operate from midnight tomorrow.
