Cathay Pacific and British Airways to resume UK- Hong Kong flights after COVID-19 induced hiatus

British Airways (BA) said yesterday it was looking forward to resuming flights from London Heathrow to Hong Kong from Sunday, May 9, following easing of restrictions by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government. Read More » The oneworld alliance member said it would operate two flights a week – Friday and Sunday – on the route with 777-300ERs, “We at British Airways can’t wait to welcome our customers on board our flights from London Heathrow to Hong Kong again, and are delighted to be able to reunite families and friends with their loved ones after such a long time apart," BA head of sales for Asia-Pacific, Noella Ferns, said in a statement.
Cathay Pacific will re-commence London Heathrow-Hong Kong services from tomorrow with A350-1000s. Initially there will be three flights a week increasing to five a week by May 13. Earlier this week, the HKSAR government lifted a ban on incoming arrivals from the UK and Ireland amid the improving COVID-19 situation in the two countries. Both carriers have not flown from London to Hong Kong since December 2020.
