Australia’s international passengers decline 96.6% against March 2020

About 58,336 passengers flew in and out of Australia in March, a 96.6% reduction from 1.7 million in March 2020 and 98.2% below 3.3 million in March 2019, Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics figures showed. Read More » Airlines operated 377,451 seats into and out of Australia for the month, down 87.1% from 2.9 million seats in March 2020 and 91.6% lower than 4.5 million seats in March 2019. Singapore Airlines (SIA) was Australia's largest international carrier in March, with a 19.3% market share, or 11,282 passengers, followed by Qatar Airways (15.3%//8,925 passengers) and Air New Zealand (14.5%/ 8,438 passengers). Australia's Qantas and its LCC), Jetstar, have suspended almost all scheduled international flights apart from some services to New Zealand. Virgin Australia (VA) flew no international flights in the month.
