Vietnam Airlines to receive US$174.4 million in loans from local banks

Vietnam Airlines is expected to receive a four trillion dong (US$174.4 million) loan from a trio of Vietnamese banks, local media has reported, citing comments from a State Bank of Vietnam official. Read More » The loans from Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank and SeABank, will help shore up the airline's finances amid the ongoing pandemic. A Vietnam Airlines spokesperson told local media the funds should be available to the carrier by late June or early July. Last month, Vietnam Airlines Group, made up of flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, LCC Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Air Services Company (VASC), reported an after-tax loss of 4.975 trillion dong for the three months to March 31, 2021, down 90% from an after-tax loss of 2.6 trillion dong a year ago.
