International travellers to and from Australia increased by 50% in April

There were 112,857 international passengers flying into and out of Australia in April, up 49.9% from 75,306 passengers in the same month a year earlier, and almost double the 58,336 passengers carried in March, data from the country's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) showed. Air New Zealand (Air NZ) had the largest share of international travel into and out of Australia, at 39.6%, representing 44,704 passengers. Australia’s Qantas was in second place at 16.1%, or 18,201 passengers, followed by Singapore Airlines (9.5%, 10,764 passengers). Quarantine-free travel between Australia and New Zealand commenced on April 18.
