Japan announces US$1.1 billion support package for nation’s aviation sector

Read More » The financial support will include 120 billion yen (US$1.1 billion) towards reducing taxes and other fees for domestic flights. The MLIT said airport charges such as landing fees and navigation assistance fees would be reduced by 90% and aircraft fuel tax would be halved. The government also will offer capital funds to the sector through loans from bodies such as the Development Bank of Japan to support cash flow and strengthen the balance sheets of aviation companies. MLIT said the government would continue to pay close attention to future trends in airline demand and business conditions and would respond in a timely and appropriate manner.
