AirAsia Indonesia announced on Saturday all domestic and international flights would be suspended from Tuesday, July 6 until Friday, August 6 in support of the country's latest efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 across the archipelago nation. Read More » Passengers holding tickets for flights during the month long suspension can rebook their journeys or receive a credit or a refund for booked flights. Indonesia recorded 25,830 new cases of COVID-19 on July 2, more than 10 times the rate of daily new infections in the middle of May, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has reported. Last week, the Indonesian government introduced restrictions for residents of Bali and Java. Shopping malls were closed, food retailers limited to takeaway service and individuals employed in non-essential sectors were ordered to work from home. The strictures are in place until July 20.
