Korean Air moves closer to 2024 full merger with former rival Asiana Airlines

Korean Air (KAL) said late last week its post-merger integration (PMI) plan for the proposed acquisition of Asiana Airlines had been approved by the state-run Korea Development Bank (KDB). Read More » The PMI plan covers the integration of KAL and Asiana's operating airlines and subsidiaries, staffing details and other matters. “For three months, the state-owned bank reviewed the PMI plan and made revisions in consultation with Korean Air, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and other relevant agencies,” KAL said.
The company remains committed to a 2024 union of South Korea’s two most established international carriers.
