No quarantine travel between South Korea and the Northern Mariana islands commenced on the weekend with flights connecting Seoul Incheon and Saipan. Read More » Two flights took off from the South Korean capital on Saturday – one from Asiana Airlines and one from Jeju Air – carrying 92 passengers, local media reported. In June, the governments of South Korea and the Northern Mariana islands - a collection of 14 islands in the northwestern Pacific Ocean - established an air travel bubble that offers quarantine-free travel to passengers fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The start of the air travel bubble coincided with a rise in COVID-19 infections in South Korea. The country recorded 1,630 cases on Friday, compared with 645 new daily cases a month ago.
