ANA HOLDINGS reports lower losses

ANA HOLDINGS INC, the parent company of All Nippon Airways (ANA), has reported a net loss of 51.2 billion yen (US$467 million) for the three months to June 30, an improvement from a net loss of 108.8 billion yen in the same three months in 2020. Read More » Operating revenue rose 63.6%, to 198.9 billion yen, ANA said in a regulatory filing to the Tokyo Stock Exchange. “Though COVID-19 and accompanying immigration restrictions have dampened demand for international travel, this turnaround was made possible by the impressive growth of our cargo business, rebounding travel demand and targeted cost-cutting measures that have led to the greatest improvement in quarterly financial results since COVID-19 started impacting our business in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2019," ANA HOLDINGS executive vice president and chief financial officer, Ichiro Fukuzawa, said. ANA HOLDINGS said forecast full-year earnings were unchanged from April, when the company said operating revenue for the 12 months to March 31 would be 1.38 trillion yen and net profit would be 3.5 billion yen.
