India expected to clear the 737 MAX for resumption of flying: report

Read More » India's aviation regulator was expected to first clear imported and new 737 MAXs for a return to service, with grounded aircraft permitted to fly a month later, the report said. In April, India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) allowed foreign registered 737 MAXs to overfly Indian airspace, subject to permission, and foreign registered 737 MAXs grounded in India were allowed to perform operational readiness flights and ferry flights outside the country. SpiceJet had 13 737 MAX 8s grounded. The report noted 170 of 195 aviation regulators have cleared the aircraft to return to service after design changes were made following two fatal crashes. The aircraft type has been grounded in India since March 2019.
