China records 19.2% June decline in domestic air travellers

Airlines in China flew 41.2 million passengers on their domestic flights in June, down 19.2% month-on-month from 50.9 million in May, figures from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) report. Read More » The month's numbers also were 13.1% lower than the 47.3 million domestic travellers recorded in pre-COVID-19 June 2019. Passenger load factor was 77% for the month compared with 79.2% in May and 83.3% in June 2019. China has battled a fresh outbreak of the pandemic that began in May, with the number of daily cases peaking at more than 600. The figure has since reduced, with 44 new COVID-19 cases recorded on Saturday, according to World Health Organisation (WHO) figures.
