China Airlines reports 31.8% growth in passenger numbers

Taiwan's China Airlines (CAL) has reported passenger numbers increased 31.8%, to 10,648 in August, from 8,076 passengers in July. Read More » Despite the improvement, the August result was 65% below the 30,398 passengers carried in the same month in 2020 and down 99.2%, from 1.4 million transported in August 2019. The SkyTeam alliance member said passenger revenue was TW$243 million (US$8.8 million) in August 2021, up 26.6%, from TW$192 million in July. However, revenue was down 61.2%, from TW$628 million in August 2020, and was a fraction of the TW$8.8 billion in passenger revenue CAL earned in the pre-COVID-19 times of August 2019.
