Korean Air withdraws its membership of the AAPA

Read More » The resignation of the South Korean carrier from the regional association was announced during an AAPA online media briefing yesterday. AAPA director general, Subhas Menon, said KAL had left the association a couple of months ago. "They are undergoing a restructuring I guess so they made the decision," Menon said. A KAL spokesperson confirmed the airline had left the AAPA following a review. "Due the prolonged pandemic, we have re-evaluated our entire business process, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, and have concluded to conduct work related to industry affairs and activities with IATA and its relevant advisory councils," the spokesperson told Orient Aviation in a statement. "Our cooperative relationship with AAPA and its member airlines remains intact. We will continue to work closely together for development of the aviation industry in the Asia-Pacific." South Korea's Asiana Airlines remains a member of the AAPA.
