Air China's domestic passengers more than halved in August

Read More » The airline's monthly traffic report said the emergence of local cases of COVID-19 and government initiatives to suppress the outbreak were behind the decline in passenger numbers. Domestic capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), was reduced by 46% for the month compared with July. Against pre-COVID-19 activity, Air China's domestic passenger numbers and ASK were down 62.8% and 43.5%, respectively, from August 2019 levels. Passenger load factor on the domestic network for August was 57.8% compared with 74.6% in July and 86.1% two years ago. During the month, the Star Alliance member added three A320neo family aircraft to its fleet and retired one business jet.
