Embraer predicts regional aircraft boom in China

Read More » In a market outlook released at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai on Tuesday, Embraer said 77% of the new deliveries would be for market growth, while 23% would replace older aircraft. It expects civil aviation revenue passenger kilometres to experience a compound annual growth rate of 4.7% over the next decade making China the world’s biggest aviation market. Embraer China managing director, Guo Qing, said small and medium-sized aircraft had been instrumental in the quick recovery of connectivity in China during COVID-19. “In the post-epidemic era, building a more efficient air transport system is of vital importance,’’ he said. “The market calls for a more balanced fleet profile and route network structure to serve more secondary markets. It is why we believe for the next 20 years, aircraft with up to 150 seats will fully release their potential.” Recently, Embraer said announced infrastructure developments that included about 200 new airports to encourage and promote industrial relocation highlighted the importance of small to medium airplanes to airlines. It expected the importance of regional aircraft to continue to increase as they played a key role in launching services to these airports and developing demand. The company also pointed to the importance attached by Chinese authorities to addressing environmental challenges facing the aviation industry. It said its E-Jet E2 aircraft could deliver 24.5% better fuel efficiency per seat and 10% better fuel burn than competitors to help China achieve its goals. Embraer has 91 E-jets in China flying across 550 routes, connecting some 150 cities and transporting about 20 million passengers annually.
