Singapore’s aviation wage grant extended by six months

The Singapore government will extend its aviation workforce retention grant by six months to help aviation companies preserve their capabilities and position themselves for recovery. Read More » The government said it expected the grant to benefit more than 100 aviation companies and cost about S$130 million (US$95.7 million). The scheme will provide 30% support for the first S$4,600 of a local employee’s gross monthly wages from October to December and 10% of the same amount between January and March. Singapore’s aviation industry has been hit hard by COVID-19. Government figures revealed that passenger movements at Changi Airport were 3.6% of pre-COVID levels in September. “The aviation sector is seeing some green shoots of growth with the successful launch of the Vaccinated Travel Lane to Germany and Brunei and plans to extend it to other countries and regions,’’ Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore director-general, Han Kok Juan, said. “The extension of the Aviation Workforce Retention Grant will help aviation companies tide over this difficult time and retain and rebuild core capabilities to position for recovery.”
