South Korea lifts grounding of the 737 MAX

The jet was grounded in March 2019 after fatal crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia, but it is already operating in many jurisdictions, including several Asia-Pacific countries. China, one of the remaining holdouts, is expected to give the jet the green light to fly again before the end of the year. A statement from South Korea’s Ministry of Land and Infrastructure said authorities had decided to allow operations to resume under strengthened oversight after monitoring safety and flight data from other countries.
