Air China posts 37.5% December decline in domestic passengers

Air China flew 4.2 million passengers on its domestic network last December, down 37.2% from 6.7 million travellers transported in the same month a year earlier. Read More » Despite the hefty year-on-year decline, as China battled to extinguish cases of community transmission of COVID-19, the December 2021 figure was up 38.7% month-on-month from three million domestic passengers carried in November. The Star Alliance member said its domestic load factor for the reported month was 64.5%, compared with 68.5% a year ago and 60.5% in November 2021. Air China added net five aircraft to its fleet last month: two A321neo, two A320neo, one A350 and one business jet. The flag carrier also retired an A330. Its fleet stands at 746 aircraft.
