New Malaysian carrier receives conditional approval for air service licence

A new airline backed by private interests based in Malaysia has received conditional approval from local authorities for an air service licence (ASL). Read More » The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) website has reported the conditional ASL for the airline, to be called MYAirline, was valid until December 31, 2022. The conditional ASL will allow MYAirline to apply to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) for an air operator certificate (AOC). "An ASL will only be issued to the applicant who holds a valid AOC issued by the CAAM," the MAVCOM website stated. News of the plans of MYAirline was first reported by The Edge Markets website, which said filings with the Companies Commission of Malaysia showed MYAirline has two million ringgit (US$478,073) in paid-up capital and had signed leasing agreements for two A320s.
