Five new low-cost carriers (LCCs) will be launched in Asia in the next two months.  Read More »

Peach Airlines, a joint venture headed by All Nippon Airways (ANA), launched international services between Seoul and Osaka in May. The carrier plans to launch 10 routes from its hub in Osaka Kansai with a fleet of A320 aircraft in five years. The carrier started services to Hong Kong on July 1 and will fly to Taipei from September 30. 

Jetstar Japan, with partners Qantas Airways, Japan Airlines, Mitsubishi Corporation and Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation, is scheduled to launch between Tokyo Narita and Fukuoka on July 3. The airline will serve Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Okinawa from its hub in Tokyo Narita this year with its fleet of A320 aircraft.  Jetstar also is planning to establish Jetstar Hong Kong in 2013. 

AirAsia Japan, a joint venture between All Nippon Airways and AirAsia, will launch on August 1 from its hub at Tokyo Narita to Fukuoka, Okinawa and Sapporo. It will commence regional destinations to Busan and Seoul on October 1.

Scoot, a low-cost, long-haul airline owned by Singapore Airlines plans to commence its first route between its home base and Sydney on June 6. The carrier also plans to serve the Gold Coast, Bangkok and Tianjin, China, with its fleet of Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

Thai Smile, a low-cost airline owned by Thai Airways International, will launch on July 7 with A320 services to Macau from its hub at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport. Routes to Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket, and Surat Thani will follow later in the year.
