Australia’s domestic passengers increase 44.8% in November

There were 1.5 million domestic airline passengers on scheduled commercial flights in Australia in November, up 44.8% month-on-month from the 1.1 million passengers recorded in October, figures from the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) show. Read More » Capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), was up 20.6% month-on-month in November. Passenger load factor for the month was 57.4% compared with 54% in October. Despite the encouraging figures, the BITRE report noted traffic remained well below levels recorded pre-pandemic. "COVID-19 and associated domestic travel restrictions continued to impact domestic aviation activity in November 2021," the BITRE report said. "The number of revenue passengers was 71.2% below the pre-COVID-19 levels of November 2019."
