All Nippon Airways cancels 3,865 domestic flights to February 28

Japan's All Nippon Airways (ANA) has cancelled 3,865 domestic flights from today to February 28 due to the impact of COVID-19 on passenger demand. Read More » The cancellations are 221 flights from January 27 to January 31 and 3,644 flights for February. The changes will result in the Star Alliance member operating 92% of its normal domestic schedule in January, a one percentage point difference from the operation outlined in ANA's previous schedule update. The operation rate for February will be 81%. Japan recorded low daily COVID-19 case numbers towards the end of 2021, including less than 100 a day for some periods in December, but new infections have soared in early 2022, reaching a peak of 54,180 on Monday.
