Five million passengers took Mainland domestic flights during Lunar New Year

Airlines in China transported five million passengers on domestic flights during the recent Lunar New Year holiday, up 40.2% from the prior year's numbers, figures from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) show. Read More » When compared with pre-COVID-19 levels, the 2022 figures are less than half the 12.8 million passengers who travelled during the 2019 seven-day Lunar New Year national holiday. The peak travel day was February 6, the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, when 1.23 million travellers took a flight. Scheduled services in the 2022 seven-day period rose 33.3%, to 62,744. Passenger load factor was up 0.75 of a percentage point year-on-year, to 58.3%. The top five airports, measured by passenger traffic, were Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Kunming and Shenzhen, the CAAC said.
