Japan Airlines cuts domestic schedule for February and March

Japan Airlines (JAL) has further reduced its domestic flying for the remainder of February and the first half of March in response to market conditions. Read More » The oneworld alliance member's latest schedule update shows 4,141 more domestic flights have been cancelled – 170 from February 15 to February 28 and 3,971 in the first 17 days of March. The changes mean JAL will operate 67% of its normal domestic schedule for February, down one percentage point from the 68% operation rate outlined in the airline's schedule update at the start of this month. The operation rate for the first 17 days of March is planned for 72%. JAL will update its domestic schedule for the second half of March on February 17. Figures from the World Health Organisation (WHO) show Japan had its highest daily total of new COVID-19 cases earlier this month, when 103,038 infections were recorded on February 4. The COVID-19 vaccination rate in Japan sits at 83% of the population.
