Philippines removes quarantine for international travellers

Read More » The relaxation of international border restrictions started yesterday ending a two-year ban on foreign arrivals imposed by the Philippines government in response to the pandemic. To enter the Philippines travellers must be fully vaccinated and hold a negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19 taken within 48 hours before departure. "We will begin the next chapter on the road to recovery," Tourism Secretary, Berna Romulo-Puyat, told local media. The Philippines had intended to reopen its international border in December. The date was pushed back following the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. New daily infections of COVID-19 have declined from a peak of 38,867 on January 16 to 3,574 on Wednesday, reports the World Health Organisation (WHO). About half of the country’s population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
