The delivery flight of the B787 from Boeing’s centre at Everett in the U.S. to Tokyo’s Haneda airport was the first time a Dreamliner aircraft had flown using biofuels.
The B787’s biofuel was produced mainly from cooking oil and reduced emissions emitted by the aircraft during the flight by 10%. “Our historic flight using sustainable biofuels across the Pacific Ocean highlights how the innovative technology can be used to support our industry’s goal of carbon neutral growth beyond 2020, “ said ANA senior executive vice-president, Osamu Shinobe.
ANA was the launch customer for the B787 Dreamliner. It took delivery of its first B787 last year.
