Malaysia’s air traffic “resilient” in January

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) said passenger traffic has held up well amid the challenges presented by the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Read More » Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) handled 1.04 million passengers in January 2022, up 299.3% from the 261,000 passengers processed through the airport a year earlier. The January figure was down 15.5% month-on-month from the 1.23 million travellers who flew to or from KLIA in December. "Despite the unfolding of the Omicron wave resulting in the temporary suspension of the Vaccinated Travel Lane and Umrah trips in Malaysia, January passenger movements for Malaysia were resilient and performed better than the average passenger movements recorded in the fourth quarter of 2021," MAHB said.
