China diverts international flights away from Shanghai: reports

Some 106 international flights have been diverted from Shanghai and will land in other cities in China from March 21 to May 6 as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, local media has reported, citing comments from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Read More » The scheduled flights to Shanghai scheduled to be operated by China-based carriers Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Spring Airlines will instead land in Chengdu, Dalian, Hangzhou or Fuzhou, the CAAC was quoted as saying. China had a record 57,192 new COVID-19 infections on March 4, the country's highest daily total since the start of the pandemic. New daily infections nationally have since fallen, standing at 14,835 on Monday.
