Air New Zealand to launch Auckland-New York JFK nonstop flights in September

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) will commence nonstop Auckland- New York JFK three times a week flights on September 17 flying the route with 787-9s. It is one of the longest routes in the world, at just over 16 hours northbound and 17 and a half hours southbound," Air NZ CEO, Greg Foran, said. "To ensure customers arrive in New York feeling refreshed, we have put a lot of thought into the on board experience. Teams are working around the clock to make sure this a great flying experience." By the time it launches, the Auckland-New York JFK service will be the fourth longest route in the world at 7,671nm, behind Singapore Airlines Singapore-New York JFK (8,287nm), Singapore-Newark (8,285nm) and Qatar Airways Auckland-Doha (7,848nm). The Star Alliance member has two configurations for its 787-9 fleet: 275 seats (27 business, 33 premium economy and 215 economy) and 302 seats (18 business, 21 premium economy and 263 economy).
