Malaysia Airports records 52% increase in international passengers in March

Malaysia Airports said international passengers processed through its airports rose 52%, to 420,000 for March, as travellers took advantage of Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) arrangements with Cambodia, Singapore and Thailand in the month. Read More » The numbers are likely to increase in the period ahead, given Malaysia has been open to quarantine-free travel for international visitors since April 1, the airport operator said. “We continue to be encouraged by the gradual increase in international passenger movements at our local airports after the reopening of borders on April 1," Malaysia Airports managing director, Dato’ Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, said. "Since then, we have been recording a daily average of 20,000 international movements. We are expecting an increase in this number when Kota Kinabalu International Airport starts accepting international passengers [also] this month."
