Malindo Air approved to fly as Batik Air

Read More » The Malaysia-based airline said the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) had granted it an air operator certificate (AOC) to fly as Batik Air from April 28. The Batik Air name already is used by a Lion Air Group airline based in Indonesia. The rebranding of Malindo Air to Batik Air is part of Lion Air Group's efforts to establish a common identity for its full-service airlines. "With the rebranding exercise and the reopening of the borders taking place in the region, we are very excited about the opportunities presented to us for the potential growth of our airline. With the new brand, we will be able to offer fresh and new services," Malindo Air/Batik Air CEO, Captain Mushafiz Bin Mustafa Bakri, said. The airline said it will add a number of 737s to its fleet in response to market conditions.
