Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways announce partnership

Virgin Australia (VA) and Qatar Airways have announced a strategic partnership that includes code-sharing on each other's flights and reciprocal frequent flyer benefits. Read More » Qatar Airways flies to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney from its Doha headquarters hub. VA does not serve Doha. Qatar Airways Group CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said the oneworld alliance member had a strong and long-standing relationship with Australia. "This partnership will give Australian passengers access to the world they have so acutely missed these past two years, to be able to reconnect with family and friends and keep the wheels of trade moving," Al Baker said. VA CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka, added: "We are incredibly focused on creating great travel experiences and our new partnership with Qatar Airways will significantly expand Virgin Australia’s footprint into the Middle East, Europe and Africa, offering hundreds more ways our guests can seamlessly see the world." Other VA airline partners are All Nippon Airways, Air Canada, Etihad Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Virgin Atlantic and United Airlines.
